For a country of its size and circumstances, Ukraine's AI momentum is remarkable. According to AVentures Capital's DealBook of Ukraine 2025, AI-native startups attracted roughly $302 million in 2025 — nearly triple what non-AI peers raised, out of $498M in total tech funding. That concentration into AI is a leading indicator worth paying attention to.
Products the world already uses
Ukrainian AI is not theoretical. Kyiv-based Respeecher built voice-AI used in major Hollywood productions (its technology featured in Disney+ Star Wars projects), and films using it have collected multiple Academy Awards. Reface, an a16z-backed Kyiv AI app studio, has surpassed 300M+ downloads and raised €15.2M in late 2025. Grammarly, Preply and others (covered elsewhere on this blog) round out a deep bench.
AI in the machinery of the state
In September 2025 Ukraine launched Diia.AI, billed as the world's first national AI agent that delivers real government services; tens of thousands of citizens used it in its early rollout to generate official documents. Ukraine also unveiled a draft National AI Development Strategy with the stated ambition of becoming a global top-3 country in AI development and public-sector integration.
Talent and support
Underpinning it all is a tech talent pool estimated in the hundreds of thousands, plus sustained backing such as the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, which committed $15M and backed 156 startups (up to $100K equity-free each). For Singapore and APAC investors seeking AI capability with a track record of shipping, Ukraine is an ecosystem that consistently over-delivers.
